Going to a top salon is a must in Kuwait. Working long hours, dust, heat, wind and the water can damage our hair and skin. I want somewhere that offers a one stop shop so I can get everything done at the same time. I am searching for that perfect salon that has knowledgeable, friendly and experienced staff that keeps up with the latest trends and techniques, high end products, first rate tools, comfortable chairs and beds, soothing music, relaxing, clean, sanitary environment, prices that match the services and not what country you are from and a convenient location with flexible hours. I don't mind spending a lot if the services are worth it. I'm tired of paying Manhattan prices in Kuwait for mediocre work and low end products.
What's up with salons in Kuwait that charge Westerners twice the price and everyone else a lot less, that use cheap products, (Why does Kuwait only have L’Oreal and Wella? Is there a hair color mafia? Customers want the best like: Aveda, Redkin, Framesi, etc.), bickering staff that constantly complain to their clientele, (We came to your salon to relax and not spend the entire time listening to your internal drama!), unsanitary conditions, (You want to put that nasty wax on my what?), revolving door, (Every time you find a decent stylist they leave), untrained colorists that ruin hair on a weekly basis, (How many people do you know who had their hair ruined in Kuwait?), stylists who work on too many clients at one time, stylists who text or talk on the telephone constantly and forget you are there and I could go on and on.
Ladies, please tell me which salon in Kuwait is your top pick? Who offers the best:
Body Waxing, Eyebrow Threading or Wax, Hair Color, Highlights, Lowlights, Hair Cuts, Hair Style, Facials, Massage, Body Scrub and Spa, Hair Deep Condition / Treatment Packages with Head and Shoulder Massage, Artificial Nails (Gel / Acrylic), Manicure, Pedicure, Spray Tanning, Makeup, Eyelashes (Extension / false / dye), Fair Prices, Specials and Packages.
I hope you will share with our readers your choice for Kuwait’s top salon and why. You can list more than one salon and stylist. It doesn't have to be a fancy salon with a big name. You might have a favorite nail salon and then another place for hair and body. Please be sure to mention the name of the stylist / technician you recommend to book your appointment with, the telephone number and address when you comment about your favorite salon.
If you are a salon owner or staff then please feel free to comment and let our readers know about your stylists, services and current offers.
Salons in Kuwait I've heard about from Expats and Kuwaitis
Toni and Guy Pros: Western stylists for both women and men. (Note: You must have your hair cut by the same sex.) Convenient for those belonging to the Al Corniche Resort & Spa. Cons: expensive, not close to American contractor housing.
Al Corniche Resort & Spa - Arabian Gulf Street, Al-Shaab Al-Bahry
Tel: 2566-3286
Soho Salon Spa ~ Pros: American co-owner, Western hair stylist, convenient location to American contractor housing, good products and chic décor. Cons: This is where I like to go for hair because it's convenient and comfortable. BUT they can never keep a stylist for very long (they always quit) and go long periods without one, expensive.
Location: Fintas - Area 1, Lulwa Center, First Floor
(opposite Egaila Beach, Fintas, Kuwait). Tel: 2390-2077
Eden Salon Spa ~ Pros: Full service salon and spa (they have everything), nice décor, American owners and stylist that is really good. Cons: Top stylists work on more than one client at a time with a lot of text messaging in between, salon chairs are a bit close together (no privacy), expensive, must make appointment way in advance for best stylists, not an easy location to find and far from American contractor housing.
Location: Sharq, Kuwait
Near Mughal Mahal Restaurant, opp. WoW Catering and Ibis Hotel. Tel: 2241 9556 / 7
RETRO Salon
Location: Qortuba st., Block#5, Qortuba. Tel: 2533-0587
Images ~ Pros: Easy to get to off Hwy 30, 4th ring. Open 7 days per week. Fantastic Romanian hair stylist (Flori) if she is still there, best waxing technician (Maria), great nails (artificial / gel) is Gloria and friendly staff, frequent specials for multi-treatments, many private rooms. Cons: No Western stylists, expensive, outdated and uncomfortable hair washing stations.
Fouad Al-Rashid Building No. 4, 1st Floor (Please use Stairs)
Abothar Al-Gafari St., 4th Ring Road, Salmiya, Kuwait. Tel: 2563-9388
Strands Salon and Nail Bar ~ Pros: The first Western salon in Kuwait, Western stylists, nail bar, chic design, good products, spray tanning. Cons: Expensive and must book in advance for top stylists.
(Moved its location on June 1st, 2012 to: Salmiya, Blk 4, St. 6, Bldg 1, Flat #11)
Tel: 25711237/8

ReplyDeletebest body waxing and eyebrow threading is in sharqiya salon in jabriya, its HUGE! and extra clean
best hair cuts i got in lashes salon in yarmouk by na'eema , their phone number is 25338584, they also do manicure and pedicure
my fav mani and pedi spa is nail it in hawali plaza, her staff are awesome and they also give hair treatment
http://www.facebook.com/pages/Nail-It/358519171158
Just Noon ~ you rock! Thanks for the awesome tips! I know you have exquisite taste (not just in food ;)
ReplyDeletewlecome :* hope u enjoy the treatment :**
ReplyDeleteFor a Mani & Pedi, I really liked Me Time Nails in the Avenues. They make you feel like you've been there a gazillion times, they do a great job, the price is better than in the US & it's super, super clean!
ReplyDeleteI wrote a long comment, then got it deleted by mistake :(
ReplyDeletefor facials and hair treatment: I highly recommend fivesenses salon in tala cente in salmiya.
ReplyDeletefor nails: I recommend Nail it in plaza hawalli and nail polish also in tala and jabriya and N Bar in salmiya
Hair cuts and coloring : the cutting edge in salmiya.
Spa: nothing tops Spa time avenues :)
hope that was helpful
for deep tissue (relax) massage, Oriental Princess in Salmiya-- the therapists are all from Thailand and I swear it's in their DNA to just hit the right spots whenever you're feeling tense-- 15 KD for one hour or 20KD for 90 minutes.
ReplyDeletethere is also a hairstylist there by the name of Mona-- she just has a gift for cutting great hair-- I have medium length hair-- 3KD
I also get my eyebrows threaded there for 1KD and every time I do, the lady does such a good job that I don't have to get it down for another 3 weeks !
Mani/pedi -- Elche Spa in Gulf Hotel -- Salmiya
11KD with a mask for your feet and hands-- ask for Norah-- she really is able to trim away cuticles and apply polish so that your nails look fantastic!
Anonymous ~ Me Time sounds great! Thanks for the tip.
ReplyDeleteLady B ~ Please don't make me beg...
ReplyDeletePlease, please, pretty please post again. I really value your input Miss Fashionista. ;)
Her ~ thank you for taking the time to post so much helpful info. The places you mentioned sound fabulous! :*
ReplyDeleteAnonymous 5:42 PM ~ awesome suggestions! Thank you so much. I've never heard of these places and I'm excited to try them out.
ReplyDeleteThe best place to go to style your hair is definately Beautique in jabriya! They dont do any of that scary puffy stuff, their styles are red carpet worthy and the salon itself is really nice and their staff are very nice. And if you don't like how it comes out they redo the entire thing for you and their prices are very reasonable. :D
ReplyDeleteAs for makeup I never get it done in salons, try youtubing huda heik she has really really good tutorials!
And for nails, I really like Eden, or me time.
Hope that helped! :D
r.alsharif ~ Thanks for the tips! :D It does help a lot.
ReplyDeleteExpat and the city, I am sooo glad you thought of putting out this questionaire and readers have been kind enough to share their experiences and views in their comments. Great! I must visit some of these places.
ReplyDeleteKuweight 64 ~ If you visit some of these places then please let me know what you think. I'm glad the post was helpful :D
ReplyDeleteI really like Trendz Salon in Salmiya on Baghdad Street across from LaBaguette. The parking is easy, the prices are very reasonable and the staff are friendly and well trained. There's a Lebanese coiffure, I dont' remember her name, but she's really great and can even cut Westerners hair nicely.
ReplyDeleteIts a small salon but very clean which is hard to find in Kuwait.
Anonymous 9:01 AM ~ thank you so much for the great info! :)
ReplyDeleteHey :)
ReplyDeleteI just discovered your blog...
I live in Salmiya and here I've done nails few times - in salon Nail'z plus. I mean - never again. Last time was 'last drop in full glass'. They're making appointment and then you are sitting and waiting as a fool for many hours (las time I spent there 4 hours instead of 2 - how much takes refill of acrylic nails). I totally pissed off, cause I really don't want to spent all my free time in salon. At the end, the girl who was making my nails was apologizing to me 100 times, even if that was not her mistake (female boss is making appoints.)Every time was like that, so I simply gave up.
Beside that comment, girls are doing their job perfectly.
But I'll definitely find some other place to go, I read all comments, thanks for that! ;)
Sorry for long comment!
Nastasja ~ Hello and welcome to E&TC :D That is a too long to wait! I wouldn't be happy either. Our free time in Kuwait is too precious to wait for hours for nails or a man. ;)
ReplyDeleteWell, this has to be the most difficult question to ask. I did the same thing a few months back and even with my readers suggestions, I still wasn't happy.
ReplyDeleteI am so glad you pointed out the fact they only use L'oreal.... I'm not sure what the deal with that is.
I don't mind paying manhattan prices IF I'm getting manhattan quality but we just don't get it here.
Even in many of the top salons, there are unqualified staff. If I wanted unqualified, I'd do it myself.
One thing ALL salons lack here is a proper menu. I want to know EXACTLY what you are putting on my skin. It's no good telling me after the treatment when I've had an allergic reaction.
As for appointments- I stopped making them and now just drop in because either way, I seem to sit forever.
Unfortunately, I can't give you the name of any salon that I've been 100% happy with for doing EVERYTHING. :(
Good luck tho, I hope this post sheds some light for us.
Babble ~ there are so many salons in Kuwait. I wish we could find just one that has it all :)
ReplyDeleteI recently did a bit of work on this unfortunately its for a client so can't share much but I think westerners in particular are loving Toni and guy! I have taken appointment once and then got busy and couldn't go. Let me know if you try them. MY hair is a mess at the moment and I totally need it to be set right!
ReplyDeleteJourney Kitchen ~ I haven't tried Tony and Guy. Why don't you go and test it out for me? ;) I'm sure your hair isn't the mess you think it is. It must be the humidity from cooking your amazing dishes in the kitchen. I bet your hair is lovely.
ReplyDeleteFor Gel nails and nail art Emily at soho is definately the best. I have tried many places but she really is an expert.
ReplyDeleteThey also have a lady there called Neli doing body treatments to reduce cellulite (Vela) and firming facials, Im booked in ready to get bikini beautiful!!
Anonymous 6:44 PM ~ I went to Emily about a year or more ago when I tried gel nail overlay. She is very sweet and does an excellent job. However, she takes a long time and I felt like I was there forever. I have my natural nails again and for some reason they are so long and strong. I hope they stay this way. Thanks for the tip :D
ReplyDeleteAmazing! Have just discovered this blog. Am moving out in the summer and am delighted to know there's so many fab places to go! THANK YOU! Very excited!!
ReplyDeleteAnonymous 11:11 PM ~ thank you sweetie. Best of luck with your move to Kuwait. :D

ReplyDeleteHi Emily ~ It's so nice to hear from you. You did my artificial nails once and they looked amazing. I've had natural nails for a long time now and due to time constraints haven't made it back to you. Usually I'm in Kuwait City for a mani and pedi. Best of luck and I hope to get some time to visit you again. :D
ReplyDeleteHi i am new to Kuwait and I have heard of 2 different salons to visit but I can not seem to find any information on them. I am trying to find either Black Bear Saloon and /or Um Nader Saloon can a girl get some help on these?
ReplyDeleteAnonymous ~ We have never heard of those salons in Kuwait. I wish we could help you more. Maybe a reader of this post will comment with some info. Thank you and the ones I've listed are pretty good. :)
ReplyDeleteIs there anywhere in Salmiya that does Shellac?
ReplyDeleteI think the Nail Bar near the Salmiya Sultan Center does Shellac nails. :)
ReplyDeleteEden Salon and Spa does both Gelish and Shellac. Phone no. 2241-9556
ReplyDeleteI like Eden Salon. :) Thank you for your comment.

I am a new business here so if your on twitter please follow me @JeweledByRema

where can i find tanning salon in kuwait apart from Eden salon.
ReplyDeletereply urgently
There used to be a place in Abu Halifa called The Beach House but I'm not sure if they are still open. Please think twice before using these machines. They just age you and cause skin cancer. :( My Mother never let me use one.
DeleteDear All,
ReplyDeleteRegarding the beach house salon is it moved or closed for good!!??
The salon is located in Abu Halifah and you can call this number 65002244 to find out more.
DeleteHeyyy plz any one tried toni & guy hair style plzz
ReplyDeleteReply me .. I wanne go there but i want to know ur comments
I know several people that go there and they love Toni & Guy. Their only complaint is one stylist that is in love with herself and stares at her own reflection in the mirror all day long instead of the clients. (LOL! I swear I've heard that over and over.) The other complaint is the price.
DeleteI tried Tony & Guy a few times to refresh my highlights. It's one of the only places in Kuwait where they didn't damage my hair but I was not happy with the color (very yellow instead of blond) and I never had a good blow-dry. And yes, they are so full of themselves! Hightlights, cut & blow-dry, 80KD!! A lot of money to walk out unhappy. I'm still looking for someone who knows how to do blond highlights without ruining my hair completely.
DeleteTry Ashley at Strands. DG recommends her over everyone else for highlights. They are expensive but the best.
DeleteHi guys,
ReplyDeleteany recommendations for a great salon that does hair extensions?
Thank u!
I've never had hair extensions but I've heard good things about Eden & Strands. :)
Deletegreat!--thank u :)
DeleteYou're welcome! :)
DeleteDoes anyone have a contact number for the salon Desiree in jabriya?
ReplyDeleteI couldn't find it anywhere on the Internet and nobody I know has ever heard of it. I'm sorry I couldn't find the number for you. :(
DeleteI want to get a medium to short bob, any suggestion? Please I don't want to get a self done bob like I've seen around Kuwait
ReplyDeleteTry Strands, Soho or Toni and Guy for a good short bob. :)
DeleteHi, I want to get a medium to short bob haircut, can I get some suggestion please... I've seen some horrible want to be bobs walking around Kuwait and I don't want to be one more victim...tnx
ReplyDeleteAs for Toni & Guy, I went there couple of times for all over hair coloring. And what I can tell you is:
ReplyDeleteChloe- Really good at matching and mixing colors to suit your expectations. I found her very helpful when I went there for my color change consultation, and the result was a fantastic shade with a nice vibrant tone to it. Only minus is that I have long hair and I found couple of spots where the dye wasn't properly applied/covered and so hair didn't fully catch the color.
Emily- Really good technique of dye application, no patches of different colors, overall the job looks fantastic. My personal minus, we didn't seem to be on the same page as for my color selection and so the result of my visit was a really nice shade of color which I didn't initially want.
Hope you find that somewhat helpful.
Thanks for sharing! I really appreciate when readers give their reviews of salons in Kuwait. It really helps the rest of us. :)
Deleteany goood salons for brazilian wax? or home service pls give me a number thxx
ReplyDeleteImages salon in Salmiya. Try Maria for Brazilian wax.
DeleteDoes anyone know of a salon that does good keratin treatments? My mother did at a salon and it destroyed her hair! I just need something to elimate the frizz in my hair wihout burning it :(
ReplyDeletePlease and thank you :p
Not in Kuwait.
DeletePlease does any one know of any home service hair salons or freelance hair stylists. Any info would be most welcome. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteI would call some of the salons in my post and ask if they have home service. :)
DeleteSo glad I stumbled on this blog.... have been in Kuwait for 2 weeks so starting to think about things like hair and nails. I had no idea where to start, so info here has been a brilliant start. Thanks so much.
ReplyDeleteWelcome to Kuwait :D I hope you enjoy your time here.
DeleteHi...I just want to say do not go to Agalia Salon and Spa in Bneid Al Gar. They totally ruined my hair when getting blonde highlights. Not only do I have to wait one month to get it fixed (so they say) but...my hair is damaged beyond repair and needs to be cut, and cut short. Does anyone have any suggestions as to where I can get it fixed? Thanks in advance. PS they offered to fix it for free but Im not taking the chance. YES its that bad!
ReplyDeleteDubai.
DeleteIf your hair was damaged by bleach then all the damage should be cut out. Weekly deep conditioning treatments and special care are a must. I would go to Ashley at Strands but it will cost you. She is worth it.
DeleteOmg this post is GOLD. I am new here and now have an idea where to go thanks to everyone! what are typical prices for a hair cut here and body wax and mani? I don't want to get ripped off and the previous country I was in was cheap.. but I'm expecting kuwait to be far more expensive.
ReplyDeleteI would recommend going to a salon where the prices are fixed and posted. I’ve mentioned in my post the best Western owned salons. They charge more but are usually worth it! You can't put a price on maintaining hair, skin, body and nails. :)
DeleteKeratin? definitely at Strands, Gretta is amazing for Brazilian wax. Their phone number is 25711237 . I was informed that they are running a special offer for Ramadan.
ReplyDeleteStrands strands strands :)) all british stylists and gretta is amazion at waxing , facials and tanning !!!!
ReplyDeleteYou must be Strands biggest fan or an employee / owner. ;P Thanks for stopping by and Ashley rocks!
Deletei HATED toni and guy. never again! i spent alot of money and hated my hair afterwards. :( going to re-dye my hair again 2moro using jst a box color ( cannot afford to spend more money on my hair!) wish me luck -.-!
ReplyDeleteSame here - I ended up doing a box color over it, but the stylist wouldn't listen to what I told her and just did what she wanted - I had highlights from the 80's in my hair. I didn't feel that this stylist had quality training. But there are 2 T&G,I went to the one on the Gulf Road. Never again!
DeleteThey did my color just how I asked for. My hair and color looks great.
ReplyDeleteHow about elche? They have a in-home menu for hair, spa and nails. Anyone have any reviews or experiences with them? Due to my very hectic work schedule, it would be nice to be pampered at home one day.
ReplyDeleteI've never heard of them before. Just make sure they have an authentic Kuwait business license for your own protection.
DeleteVery helpful. I'm an American here with an extremely busy schedule. I'm ready for a day of pampering, and the comments and suggestions above are helpful. Any thoughts on Elche? They have an entire in-home menu as well.
ReplyDeletePlease see comment above. :)

DeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteI am looking fr someone for deep massage, hot stone or Thai maybe? I'm in a lot of pain with a tight back. I live in Fintas but do drive, I just have to work my way how to get everywhere as new to the country. Thank you in advance.
The Kuwait Hilton Hotel and Spa is close to you and they have 60 & 90 minute hot stone massage. After your massage you can drink fresh OJ and swim in their spa pool.
DeleteIm looking for a nail salon that can do pink and white fills? And around how much should i expect to pay?
ReplyDeletePlease call the salon numbers in the post for a quote on their nail services. Best of luck. :)
DeleteWant to get Keratin treatment for my hair. Does anyone know of a good place? My first time so wondering whether it is worth taking the risk. My hair is dry just want to get something done which will make it look healthy and smooth without becoming flat.
ReplyDeleteTry Strands <3
DeleteTry Sloanes (25753949) I've been going there for the past 7 years.

Hi all,
ReplyDeleteI have been reading this post for a while, like i READ all of them
i really need a brazilian waxing queen - i had this women in the states she was FAB-o-LOUS! i went to a small salon in salwa and omg omg omg i died of the pain and i had to stop her from doing it she was so slow, painful and i started bleeding -.-
please save me from this and tell me someone who will do it like a breeze!!! i don't mind price i just need to PAINLESS wax
THANK YOU
I asked around and all of my friends agree that the best person to go to is an Indian lady named Maria at Images salon. Their telephone number is above on the post. :)
DeleteHi everyone, I came across this blog by coincidence and I was wondering if anyone has tried the Hilton resort's ladies salon for a haircut? Is there anyone good there? I would also like to know who is the best massage therapist at the Hilton spa? Thanx
ReplyDeleteI'm not a fan of their salon which is not under the Hilton. They just rent the space. However, the spa is under the Hilton and is pretty good. All of their therapists are great and be sure to go early so you can relax in the pool.
DeleteWell I wish u had replied earlier I took a chance and tried the salon yesterday and now I'm waiting for my hair to grow back. They are horrible Hilton shouldn't rent the space to just anyone.
ReplyDeleteI'm very sorry you had a bad experience but we do the best we can to reply to everyone in a timely manner. This is a personal blog and not a business. I am the main blogger and since it was NY2013 I went out of town for the night.
DeleteI wish u had replied earlier,I went to the salon on New Year's eve and it was a disaster.I'm waiting for my hair to grow back which will take ages. The spa was great though but expensive. Well I had to learn the hard way.
ReplyDeleteI would like to recommend Anita Salon in Hawally for hair treatments like Keratin. Also, they have a great hair cutter there and coloring is great! I had a problem before with hair fall and lost almost all of my hair when a friend recommended me to go to them. My hair is thin, and after doing Keratin treatment and bi monthly coloring, my hair grew shiny and straight. I've been going to them for 7 years now. From time to time I would try some other salon, but I always go back to them to have it fixed. The salon might not look much, but the service is good. Also, the mani and pedi techs are fantastic. I have thin nail beds and she patiently does my mani and pedi slowly so i won't get any cuts. Other services I wouldn't try--- its not a spa anyway.
ReplyDeleteFor hair color - lashes salon in yarmouk
ReplyDeleteNails- chi nail bar olympia mall
Hair cut- still haveny found the right person ! Grrrr
I don't know why Nstyle at Bustan Complex hasn't been mentioned! They are fab and a franchise from Dubai. I used to go to them whilst living in Dubai and they maintain the same standards, esp regarding sterility! I have to say though, I don't know whether they are good for Gels/Acrylics etc but their treatments and basic mani pedis are great!
ReplyDeleteThank you JJ & Anon from above for sharing your favorite places. :)

Please click on Eden's Website in the post to check for prices or you can call them directly. I do not know about salons or a gym in Khaitan. I would drive around the area and just go inside any cute salons you see to check them out. Good luck and let us know if you find any. :)

Any male waxing services? I prefer my ubby just hot, not hairy in kuwait. We had an excellent technician in the US :(
ReplyDeleteHe can try a Turkish salon for men where they provide full service with waxing. I would suggest you take him to a dermatologist at Al Seif Hospital for laser hair removal. :)
DeleteAnyone do eyebrow and eyelash tinting?
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure all salons that are mentioned in the post do both. For sure Eden and Strands.
DeleteOK I am new to Kuwait. Although I have traveled a lot and lived in other countries this is the most difficult transition I have ever had. Saying that I welcome your opinions and advice. Hair solutions I do have. Damaged hair from bleach I recommend Wen. Until you can deal with your next hair cut. Also if ur hair was highlighted and is still yellow consider nexxus platinum pro or simply silver. This will help with toning the yellow or brass out of your hair. my girfriend did hair and makeup for the celebs back home in LA. Im so nervous to seen anyone here. Im trying to gain the courage. Thank you all for your posts.
ReplyDeleteBest of luck here and I hope your hair gets healthy again fast. Thanks for reading. :)
DeleteDear Treena:
DeleteI fly to Dubai to do my hair, that is an option for you also.
One of my female managers from when I was a contractor used to do that as well. I love the idea of turning a haircut into a fun weekend getaway in Dubai. Cheers!
DeleteThank you all for the advice. I go home in 4 weeks for my daughters graduation so I am debating trying something here or see my hair guy when I get back home. but in the future I may have to try Dubai weekend in Dubai for my hair. I love Dubai!
ReplyDeleteHave a great vacation! Congrats on your daughter's graduation. :)

ReplyDeleteFor the pixie cut I would try either Eden (Daniel), Images (Flori), Strands (Ashley) to name a few of the best in Kuwait.
